Esvagt deal approved

At the end of August, the European Commission announced it has approved the acquisition of Esvagt in Denmark by 3i Group of the UK and AMP Capital Investors of Australia, under the EU Merger Regulation. Esvagt, formerly part of Maersk group, is well known for providing offshore emergency and rescue services and personnel transfer for maintenance activities for offshore windfarms. 3i is a venture capital company investing primarily in Europe, and AMP Capital Investors is an investment company operating across a broad range of asset classes. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns, because the two companies do not operate in the same markets. None of the companies in which 3i and AMP have a stake are present in an area that is related to the activities of Esvagt.
