The subject of a long-term charter agreement signed by owner DOF and charterer Technip in early 2014, Skandi Africa was at the Huisman yard in Schiedam in The Netherlands as of early September 2015, approaching completion of the installation of its crane and flexlay equipment. Already an award-winning vessel by virtue of its impressive capabilities, Skandi Africa has a length overall of 161m and a beam of 32m. The vessel was delivered by the yard that built it, Vard Soviknes, on time, in March 2015 and proceeded to The Netherlands thereafter. Designed by Vard and equipped for subsea operations with a focus on seakeeping capability, excellent stationkeeping performance and low fuel consumption, the dynamic positioning class 3 (DP3) vessel is designed for harsh environments and for deepwater subsea construction and flexlay operations in water depths of up to 3,000m.
