High spec subsea ship enters charter with Technip

March saw Farstad Shipping take delivery of the subsea construction vessel Far Sleipner, a VARD 3 07 design, from Vard Langsten shipyard in Norway. The vessel, which is intended primarily for subsea construction and inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) operations in water depths of up to 3,000m, is equipped with two offshore cranes, of which the larger one has a lifting capacity of 350 tonnes at 12m outreach. The vessel, which is also arranged to operate three remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), has accommodation for 130 people and was due to enter into a charter contract with Technip for a period of approximately 11 months, divided into two firm periods, on delivery. Including mobilisation and demobilisation, Technip can utilise the vessel for a period up to 16 months. Long-term financing of the vessel is arranged by Eksportkreditt Norge AS, DNB, Swedbank and GIEK.
