DUTCH-DESIGNED UNIT STARTS WORK ON DUTCH PROJECT WITH DUTCH OWNER

August 2016 saw Van Oord's offshore installation vessel Aeolus install the final wind turbine on the Gemini offshore windfarm, a project that also saw Van Oord install 210km of export cables using another of its recently delivered assets, the cablelay vessel Nexus. Designed primarily for the installation of cables for offshore windfarms, Nexus is one of two DOC 8500 designs from Damen that have been commissioned to date. The other, Maersk Connector, is similar but not identical and is described elsewhere in this issue.
