摘要

Simulator training helped Statoil reduce installation time and minimise risk for the Asgard subsea compression project. A huge subsea factory was installed on the seabed of the Norwegian Sea in May to September 2015 in 60 per cent of the budgeted time, with no incidents. The crew of multipurpose subsea support vessel North Sea Giant and contractor Technip were trained on specific project operations at the Offshore Simulator Centre in Norway. Statoil marine operations manager Morten Person explained how the simulator training improved operations on this breakthrough project at the 2016 Annual Offshore Support Journal Conference, Awards & Exhibition. Joel Alexander Mills, chief executive of Offshore Simulator Centre, explained how three simulators were linked together to train 40 personnel, including 30 crew and 10 supervisors for the project. The training was conducted in association with the Alesund University College, which merged with NTNU in the fourth quarter of last year. Mr Person said the project was a success, and the second train of the Asgard subsea compression system was started successfully on 1 February.
