Offshore bases will bring new life to Espirito Santo

According to Helder Barbalho, the Brazilian special minister for ports, several new facilities geared towards the offshore sector are expected to be built in Espfrito Santo, which the federal and state governments believe will come out of the doldrums by the end of 2016. Mr Barbalho said the new investments would go into a number of projects covering new port concessions, new private use terminals (or TUPs) and an ambitious dredging programme. During his recent visit to Vitoria, the key port for Espirito Santo and state capital, the port minister set the ball rolling by signing a contract giving Companhia Imetame permission to build a TUP on the coast in the Aracruz municipality, some 80km to the north of Vitoria.
