Classification society DNV GL has published the first industry standard providing guidance on offshore personnel transfer by gangways. DNV GL said it hopes the document, DNVGL-ST-0358, will help ensure safe operation of offshore access systems and enhance transparency in this segment of the industry. "By addressing a complete set of requirements for materials, strength, safety and functionality as well as testing and recommended inservice follow-up, we have created a dedicated standard to make gangway operation safer and more efficient," said Per Arild Aland, who works in business development, offshore classification, at DNV GL - Maritime.
