Cuba has an ongoing drilling programme with Saipem semi Scarabeo 9, with several oil companies involved. Bourbon Offshore and E.R. Offshore have been providing the supply vessels. Open rig demand suggests Peru, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, the Falkland Islands, Suriname and Venezuela all have operators considering new drilling programmes with potential start dates ranging from mid-2012 to 2014. Some of these may represent market consultations however, where the operators are scoping out the market to estimate cost and availability. In the Falklands and French Guiana, recent discoveries are expected to attract more work to the region.
