Vessel owners continue to sign term deals with Petrobras, although rising operating costs in Brazil are taking some of the shine off long-term contracts. While some vessel owners may insist on an escalating rate clause for such contracts, it is not common practice in the region. Cost-conscious vessel owners have been reconsidering new long-term contracts in Brazil in favour of more lucrative day rates in other regions of the Atlantic Ocean.
