You can forgive owners operating in the OSV market in the last few years for feeling some sort of relief as a new year kicks off. Supply has risen much faster than demand, resulting in dwindling utilisation and a squeeze on day rates. That 'new year brings new hope' feeling might be even more widespread as 2012 begins, with many of the major players pointing to the upcoming 12 months as a time in which the OSV market can really get back on its feet, with demand picking up worldwide for larger tonnage especially, and the supply/demand balance becoming more favourable for owners. That being said, the positivity in January was variable across the globe.
