The 2006 Midwinter General Staff Meeting A Preview of Washington, DC Area

While attending the National Air Force Association Convention last week, I had the opportunity to stay at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center—the venue for the MOWW February 2006 Midwinter General Staff Meeting - and venture out on several reconnaissance missions! If you will be driving to the meeting, be advised that the Hilton is difficult to see at night, since it sets in a park-like setting. Although 30 stories in height, it really does not stand out in the darkness. The Hilton is just about two blocks west of I-395 at the Seminary Road exit. Parking is at the rear of the building, covered and open. In case you get lost, the hotel number is 703-845-1010. The Hilton has a fleet of mini-busses. They run a bus from the hotel to Reagan National Airport terminal every half-hour, starting at 6 a.m. On the way to the airport, the bus stops at the Pentagon City Metro Station. This is a great place to descend into the subway system and proceed, or to enter the huge Pentagon Fashion Centre—an amazing shopping mall with a fantastic food court.
