Steel-like Synthetic Rope Deep Water Deployment Systems

With more oil and gas processing equipment and functions traditionally based topside now being deployed subsea to deeper waters, together with growing interest in subsea mining, offshore handling systems are pushing the limits of their deployment capability. Lowering heavy processing equipment to water depths in excess of 2,000 m is challenging the industry to reassess long-held assumptions on the performance of steel wire and synthetic fibre ropes.
