As well as safeguarding the health, safety and welfare of workers, care home managers must also consider the risks to their residents/ clients/patients (the term resident will be used in this article) and any visitors to the home. The term 'care home' is used generically in this article and includes residential and nursing homes.rnWhile many of the health and safety issues faced by care home managers are similar to those in other workplaces, eg. moving and handling, slips, trips and falls, computer use, and so on, there are more specific risks such as infections, medications, outings, water temperature etc that also need to be addressed.
