Thorough examination

In the UK, all motorists are familiar with the need for every car (after its first three years) to have an annual 'MOT' test. They know that to drive a car without a valid MOT certificate would be dangerous and illegal. Thorough Examination can be thought of as the fork lift truck (FLT) equivalent of the MOT test - but much stricter -and a Report of Thorough Examination is a bit like an MOT certificate. Whether an FLT is owned or hired, it is the user (ie. the owner of the FLT or employer of the FLT operator) who is responsible for ensuring it has a valid Report of Thorough Examination.
