摘要

An Interim assessment of the implications for the UK nuclear industry of events at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power in Japan has concluded that there is no need to curtail the operations of nuclear plants in this country but that there are lessons to be learnt. The report from the UK's chief inspector of nuclear installations, Mike Weightman, identifies 25 areas for review - by either the nuclear industry, the Government or regulators - in order to determine if new measures are needed to further improve safety in the UK nuclear industry. These include reviews of the layout of UK power plants, emergency response arrangements, dealing with prolonged loss of power supplies and the risks associated with flooding. Plans detailing how each of the 25 matters will be addressed are expected to be published by the middle of this month.
