摘要

In Great Britain in 2009/10, 25 workers in the manufacturing industry died in workplace incidents and more than 4,000 suffered major injuries; 870 during food and drink production. A lack of appreciation and understanding of the dangers of machinery is evident in these figures and can be seen in the cases featured in this report, which focuses on how compliance with a single regulation - Regulation 11 (1) of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) - could have gone a long way to protecting workers and keeping employers out of court.
