The commons Energy and Climate Change Committee has rejected a call for a moratorium on deepwater drilling in the UK Continental Shelf but raised doubts about oil spill response. The committee, which began its investigation into deepwater drilling following the Deepwater Horizon disaster in April 2010, concludes that extra precautions should be considered to ensure that a deepwater drilling disaster does not happen in the UK- but says that a moratorium would undermine energy security and is not necessary.
