Global campaign focuses on laundry capsule risks

RoSPA is leading the UK in an international campaign to raise awareness of the hazards of liquid detergent capsules. The OECD International Awareness Campaign aims to inform consumers, especially parents, to safely use and store laundry and dishwasher detergent capsules, keeping them away from children; businesses are asked to follow/share safety-related best practices as well as to help raise awareness on the safe use of laundry capsules. Over the past five years there have been 2,170 incidents in the UK relating to liquid laundry detergent capsules, according to the National Poisons Information Service (NPIS). Globally, the figure is around 16,000 each year.
