Dounreay fire leads to improvement notice

The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) has served Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd (DSRL) with an Improvement Notice as a result of an on-site fire last October. The fire at the site's Prototype Fast Reactor sodium tank farm, occurred in the early hours of the morning and was quickly extinguished. No personnel were injured, but DSRL has confirmed that radioactivity may have been released, which has been reported to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.
