Reactec has launched what it describes as a ground-breaking wearable monitoring system designed to help prevent hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS). According to the firm, HAVS is usually caused by the prolonged use of power hand tools, whose vibrations can damage the blood vessels, nerves, muscles and joints of the hand, wrist and arm, but it says that Havwear is the first technology of its kind in the UK. It is worn by the tool user and, with the support of the analytics platform reporting software, provides constant monitoring with automated reporting, to indicate any exposure risk.
