1. Most SMEs in England and Wales have little or no access to OH services. 2. An OH service set up within a general practice health centre in Bradford-on-Avon has been running successfully for five years. 3. The service is nurse-led, with medical support from OH-qualified GPs. 4. OH professionals working from a primary care setting are able to understand local issues for employers and employees; however it is important to separate clearly the roles of the physicians when they are acting as GPs or as OH professionals. 5. Other primary care practices considering setting up an OH service should secure the commitment of all members of their practice team.
