GOVERNMENT BACKS FLEXIBLE WORKING

The coalition government plans to extend the right for employees to request to work flexibly to all parents of children under the age of 18. Currently the right to request is available to parents of children aged under 17 years, parents of disabled children under 18 years of age and carers of certain adults. The extension will apply from April 2011 and will affect an estimated 288,000 workers.
