Key aims of health promotion in the UK concern behaviour-change targets relating to alcohol and tobacco use, diet and physical activityrn4. Giving people information about how to change their behaviour to increase their chances of living a healthier and longer life is not enough - motivation is keyrn5. Knowing which health promotion initiatives might work in a particular workplace is not straightforward due to the lack of a robust evidence base, but the publication of workplace-relevant NICE public health guidance is a step in the right direction.
