POWDER-FREE LATEX GLOVES

The introduction of powder-free natural rubber latex (NRL) gloves in a hospital environment in 2000 resulted in a progressive reduction in latex allergy and other symptoms, according to this prospective cohort study carried out in hospitals in Trieste, Italy. The study followed 1,040 medical, surgical and laboratory nurses who started working before 2000, and 1,013 new employees who started work between 2000 and 2009. Participants underwent skin prick, patch test and medical examination.
