Employees now have the legal right to request flexible working. This right - which previously only applied to parents and some carers - was extended to all employees from 30 June. Under the Flexible Working Regulations 2014, employees must have worked for the same employer for at least 26 weeks to be eligible. Employers must have a sound business reason for rejecting any request and must deal with requests in a 'reasonable manner'. Employees can only make one request in any 12-month period.
