摘要

1. Excessive alcohol consumption is not only detrimental to the individual but is also harmful to society and the economy 2. Employers are particularly concerned with the impact of alcohol on sickness absence, work performance and safety 3. OH professionals are in a unique position to recognise those with alcohol-related problems and offer support in the workplace, but training is essential 4. This study has demonstrated that the ALC e-learning and face-to-face 'booster' session enhanced knowledge of alcohol misuse and improved confidence and attitudes towards alcohol identification and brief advice 5. Clinicians within the OH department placed more importance on, and, after training, would be more inclined to take a more active role in, discussing alcohol with employees 6. OH clinicians found the online training possible in their work setting but ensuring that time is allocated to undertake it might further enhance engagement 7. Further studies could explore how the training in identification and management of employees with alcohol problems can be embedded into clinical practice.
