Although stress can be associated with common psychiatric disorders such as depression and anxiety, it can also be associated with other non-psychiatric triggers.These include 'chronic embitterment' experienced in response to a negative event within the workplace, said Tom Sensky, emeritus professor of psychological medicine at Imperial College. Speaking at the Society of Occupational Medicine Annual Scientific Meeting in Nottingham, Sensky said that a strong sense of injustice or unfairness, blaming an organisation or individual, and prominent ruminations are common features in those experiencing the condition.
