Human thermal environments is the most comprehensive reference source in its field. Written by Ken Parsons, professor of environmental ergonomics at Loughborough University, the third edition has been significantly updated, with new sections on testing and development of clothing, extreme environments and climate change. Hot, moderate, and cold environments are analysed according to six parameters - air temperature, radiant temperature, humidity, air velocity, clothing worn, and the person's activity -along with the physiological and psychological human responses. Chapters cover the heat-balance equation of the human body, the physiology of thermoregulation, measurement methods, dehydration and water requirements, metabolic heat production, thermal comfort, heat and cold stress, human performance in different thermal environments, international standards, and extreme environments.
