The state of OH nursing

MANY occupational health (OH) nursing courses are failing to fully prepare OH nurses (OHNs) for practice, a national survey of OHNs finds. This second report of the survey - part one was published in the October/November 2016 edition of this journal1 - also highlights dissatisfaction among many OHNs that several current OH diplomas and master's qualifications are not recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for its Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) register, and that more needs to be done to ensure sufficient numbers of practice teachers and work placements for future OH students.
