It helps to have a basic understanding of such consequences to assist employers in identifying suspicious activities that may be associated with a gambling problem 5. Occupational health professionals who encounter a staff member with gambling addiction will often need to act both on behalf of the employee in trying to refer them for treatment, while at the same time ensuring that the workplace is safeguarded from harm.
