The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued practical guidance to manage COVID-19-related health and safety risks at work. It provides answers to 17 common questions, ranging from risk assessment and social distancing, to office ventilation and opening, closing and re-opening workplaces. It advises that the risk of contracting COVID-19 in the workplace 'depends on the likelihood of coming within one metre of others, in having frequent physical contact with people who may be infected with COVID-19, and through contact with contaminated surfaces and objects'. It also recommends that workplaces are arranged not only to allow one metre between each person, but also to provide sufficient space of at least 10 square metres per person. The wearing of masks will depend on the risk assessment, which will include consideration of people at higher risk of infection or its consequences.
