The Core Center Report for this issue highlights thenChildren’s Nutrition Research Center (CNRC) atnBaylor College of Medicine. John Foreyt, Ph.D.,nwho is the director of the Behavioral Medicine ResearchnCenter at Baylor, is also a funded researcher within thenCNRC. Craig Johnston, Ph.D., and Chermaine Tyler,nPh.D., are conducting the childhood obesity studies fundednthrough this initiative.nThe CNRC is one of six federally funded human nutritionnresearch centers in the nation and the first to conductnscientific investigations into the role of maternal, infant andnchild nutrition in optimal health, development, and growth.nOperated by Baylor College of Medicine in cooperationnwith Texas Children’s Hospital and the AgriculturalnResearch Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculturen(USDA/ARS), the CNRC’s 11-story research facilitynhouses a large live-in metabolic unit, an energy metabolismnlaboratory, stable isotope and substrate analyticalnlaboratories, a body composition laboratory, an eatingnbehavior observation laboratory, and a plant physiologynlaboratory.
