21st CENTURY ELECTRIC GUITAR: THE FUTURE IS NOW

In his epic non-fiction Profiles of the Future, Arthur C. Clarke wrote that when a technology reaches the peak of its design, any changes are evolutionary, rather than revolutionary. And the electric guitar is no exception. In hindsight, often one of the reasons is market forces as much as innovation. In the case of the electric guitar, early instruments and amplifiers played such an important role in the development of rock & roll music that most guitarists buying an electric guitar today want to buy instruments that resemble, as closely as possible, those guitars and amps used by their heroes: Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and Pete Townshend.
