Olkiluoto-2's Record Production A Bright Spot Among Finnish Plants

With the exception of Olkiluoto-2, Finnish nuclear units had lower generation in 2008 than the previous year, according to operators.rnOlkiluoto-2 produced a record 7.3 terawatt-hours, with availability of 96.9%. In 2007, the unit generated 7.1 TWh. Olkiluoto-1 produced 7.1 TWh in 2008, down from 7.3 TWh in 2007. Its availability was 93.7%. The units are owned by Teollisuuden Voima Oy. Loviisa-2's production was 4 TWh, compared with slightly more than that in 2007 when it set a production record. Loviisa-1's production was down to 3.7 TWh because of a 50-day outage, longer than usual, for required inspection. The plant's total 2008 production was down from the more than 8 TWh generated in 2007. Plant availability was almost 90%, down from 95.4% in 2007. Loviisa is owned by Fortum.
