Rosatom issues tender for development of MOX fuel fabrication plant

Rosatom has issued a tender for development of a facility for the production of mixed uranium-plutonium fuel for commercial use, Rosatom said in documentation posted March 17 on the Russian government's competitive bidding procedures website. The financial value of the work described in the tender is Rub 1.8 billion ($24.2 million), Rosatom said. The winning bidder will be expected to conduct research on the project until 2024, and then to develop a technical design for a facility to produce mixed oxide, or MOX, fuel using carbothermal synthesis technology, Rosatom said in the tender documentation.
