Kazakhstan, which has in recent years said it is limiting productionincreases in an effort to boost uranium prices, will produce 4.8% moreU3O8 in 2019 than in 2018, Kazakh Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbaev,said in a statement posted on the ministry’s website February 8.Kazakhstan will produce 22,742 metric tons of uranium in 2019,Bozumbaev said.In 2018, Kazakhstan mined 21,699 mtU, in accordance with the planapproved by the national government, the energy ministry said inearlier statements.The decision to increase U3O8 production was taken even thoughthe conditions of the global uranium market remain "complicated,"Bozumbaev said. Uranium prices have remained below what mostproducers say are their costs of production.
