The Obama Administration appears to have set its sights on former Clinton era nonproliferation official Laura Holgate to head up the National Nuclear Security Administration's Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, NW&M Monitor has learned. Holgate would take the position that up until last month had been held by William Tobey, now a senior fellow with Harvard University's Belfer Center, and would be tasked with an increasing budget and one of Obama's most prominent nonproliferation and arms control-related promises: helping to secure loose nuclear materials around the world by 2012.
