NNSA AWARDS TWO MORE GRANTS FOR ISOTOPE PRODUCTION DEVELOPMENT

The National Nuclear Security Administration handed out two more grants to companies that are developing medical isotopes without highly enriched uranium, broadening its search for firms capable of addressing a worldwide shortage of the much-needed medical isotope Molybdenum-99. Madison, Wise-based NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes, LLC and a team from the University of Wisconsin's Morgridge Institute for Research both were awarded $500,000 grants through cooperative agreements with NNSA's Global Threat Reduction Initiative to aid in the development of Mo-99 production.
