HOUSE STRAT. FORCES OFFERS BROAD SUPPORT FOR FY12 WEAPONS REQUEST

Offering the first formal sign of Congressional support for the National Nuclear Security Administration's Fiscal Year 2012 weapons program budget request, the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee this week matched the Obama Administration's $7.6billionrequest forNNSA weapons activities as it cleared its portion of the FY2012 Defense Authorization Act. Reflecting the bipartisan push from subcommittee members earlier this year to fully fund the agency's FY2011 request, the bill appears to tinker very little with the Administration's request, providing full support for the NNSA's top priorities and giving the agency the flexibility to direct future pension surpluses-if there are any-to high priority mission requirements.
