Ukraine and Britain have signed a memorandum of mutual understanding as part of a plan to provide centralized nuclear waste storage in Ukraine.rnThe signing ceremony took place in the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry and was attended by Emergencies Minister Volodymyr Shandra and by Leigh Turner, Britain's ambassador to Ukraine. "The memo signed in Kyiv would give a chance to finance the collection, processing, storage of nuclear waste, ionizing radioactive waste and other work on nuclear waste treatment by Britain," said Shandra, whose country is seeking a long-term nuclear waste storage facility at the Vektor facility so it can remove nuclear waste now scattered around the nation.
