TDEC Developing Plan for Removal of Low-Level Radioactive Waste at Oak Ridge

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) is developing a plan for removal of low-level radioactive waste from an Oak Ridge plant owned by IMPACT Services, which filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in May in Delaware. An estimated one million pounds of waste is in storage at the company's facility in the East Tennessee Technology Park. TDEC spokeswoman Meg Lockhart reported the company closed down May 18.
