ANS Agrees with BRC Recommendations Continues Support To License Yucca Mountain

The American Nuclear Society (ANS) agrees with several recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Commission on America's Nuclear Future (BRC), but reported it continues to support efforts to license the Yucca Mountain, Nevada, waste repository site. The ANS, headquartered in La Grange Park, 111., noted that finding solutions for the storage of used nuclear fuel in America "has plagued our energy future, ever since the United States government failed to perform its responsibilities under the Energy Act of 1982, which required it to provide a viable, scientifically and economically sound solution to the challenge of managing used nuclear fuel."
