More Radioactive Waste May Be Buried On West Lake Landfill in St. Louis County

A new report by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on the West Lake landfill in St. Louis County, Missouri, concludes there may be more radioactive waste buried at the site than originally believed. The EPA says that crews working at the site discovered a pocket of radioactive material beneath the surface outside of the area where waste material was known to have been deposited. Previously, the EPA had concluded that the radioactive material was located farther north.
