Bulgaria's Supreme Administrative Court (VAS) has halted the construction of a planned national radioactive waste storage facility in response to a complaint regarding the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the project. Petar Penchev, member of the Public Council of the Association for Free Speech (Anna Politkovskaya) filed the complaint. In a July 22 ruling, VAS revoked a decision of the environment minister on Oct.10, 2011 on the EIA.
