Sandoval and Moniz Can't Reach Agreement On DOE Plan To Ship Radioactive Wastes

Brian Sandoval (R) and U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz discussed -but did not agree on -plans by the Department of Energy (DOE) to ship radioactive waste canisters from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee for burial at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). Sandoval said in a prepared statement that he and Moniz had a "frank and blunt" telephone conversation on the proposal. "While we agreed to disagree on specific points, we committed to having a continued, open dialogue and further discussions on this important matter," Sandoval said.
