Bulgarian officials have announced approval of a detailed development and construction plan for a low-and medium-level radioactive waste storage facility at Radiana.The State Enterprise Radioactive Waste (DPRAO) reported the Radiana site should be ready by 2015. In November 1999, the Bulgarian government and the European Commission signed a memorandum of understanding under which the Bulgarian government committed to close and decommission Units 1-4 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant at the earliest possible date.
