NRC Approves Amendments To Environmental Protection Rules

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved amendments to its environmental protection regulations governing environmental impact reviews of nuclear power plant operating license renewals. A proposed rule outlining these changes was published for public comment on July 31, 2009. The NRC staff conducted six public meetings to explain the changes and receive comments, and 32 documents with comments were submitted.
