Public Comment Period Closes on Lake Huron's Nuclear Waste Proposal

Canada's Deep Geologic Repository Joint Review Panel has closed the public comment period on a proposal to bury 7 million cubic feet of nuclear waste near the shores of Lake Huron. Ontario Power Generation is seeking permission to store roughly 200,000 cubic meters of low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste deep inside limestone caverns near its Bruce Nuclear Generating Station about 13 miles north of Kincardine, Ontario.
