The construction costs of a facility to store high-radiation waste to be generated after the expansion of Hungary's Paks nuclear power plant are estimated at 600-700 forints (EUR 2.0-2.35 bn), much less than what was speculated in the press earlier, said Attila Aszodi, government commissioner in charge of the Paks Ⅱ project. There were speculations in the press that building a storage facility for spent nuclear fuel from the Paks NPP would cost HUF 1,700 billion (EUR 5.7 bn, Aszodi told the evening news programme of public television.
