Generic procedures for response to a nuclear or radiological emergency at TRIGA research reactors

In addition to the generic procedures for response to emergencies at research reactors, the benefit of developing a dedicated attachment for TRIGA research reactors was identified as TRIGA1 is the most common type of research reactor. There are currently 38 TRIGA research reactors operating in the world, which represents some 16 % of all operating research reactors. TRIGA research reactors are designed to be inherently safe, primarily due to the prompt negative temperature coefficient of Uranium-Zirconium Hydride (U-ZrH) fuel.
